“We got a call from a woman in her 90’s, living alone rurally. When we called round, the house was cold and we could see she only had a few pieces of coal in an old bucket. It turned out she didn’t want her family to know she couldn’t afford fuel, so these pieces were essentially for show for when they called round. She was so grateful when we sent her some wood and bags of coal - ‘you don’t know what this means to me’.”
